A Dream Wedding in Charleston, SC
I ask my Husband to renew our vows and plan another wedding every month or so… He says “no” every time.
I will never give up hope! I have already chosen our stateside destination for our next marriage ceremony - Charleston, SC.
For years, my Husband would drive us down to Charleston for our birthdays (he is nine days older than I am). We would park in the parking lot of Second Presbyterian Church (where some of our best friends got married years later), and walk all the way up Meeting Street to Battery Park, then turn around and stroll past the homes on King Street on our way back down to the car. A day-long adventure for sure! We have the most special memories from walking those old streets.
I spent the month of July with my family. It just so happened that there were no events holding me in place at home in Nashville. So, I threw my baby and my two dogs in the car, and hit the road. Charleston, SC is a three hour drive from where I grew up in Charlotte, NC. During my visit, my sister and I took our daughters there to do a little camping, sun soaking and exploring on the cobblestone streets.
However, my visit this July was the first time seeing the seaside city with wedding planner eyes. There were photo ops everywhere! There were so many creative opportunities to have unique weddings. I’m a sucker for a great story, so my imagination was running wild as I imagined all the marriages that started in the beautiful architectural spaces in Charleston.
I believe in Heaven. And, I get great joy from imagining that one day when I am not on this earth, I will hear some amazing wedding day stories from successful couples who got married in Charleston.
In the meantime, I will simply use one of the most romantic cities as inspiration.
As a wedding planner in a landlocked state, I often forget how magical the ocean is and how much happiness exists in the atmosphere. So, I am encouraged by my seaside adventure this previous July, and I can’t wait to dream up an event that feels like there is salt in the air!
Who knows, maybe next month I will be able to convince my love to renew our vows in the city we hold so dear to our hearts…
Just imagine the possibilities!
